What is your heavenly hope? For most, it is the expectation that they will one day escape from suffering in this life to “a better place”; to enjoy eternal satisfaction in heaven. But our hope is not so. Our heavenly hope is not that we should one day go there and remain blissful forever. Rather, our heavenly hope is for those things that are reserved there for us. Our expectation is that one day, the kingdom of heaven will be delivered to us, in all of its glory, here on the earth. For we do not desire not to escape suffering, seeing it as necessary. We eagerly desire to be united with our Lord as a bride who eagerly waits to be joined with her beloved. What would it profit us to go to heaven and there remain if our Lord should depart and return to the earth? Our hope is to be with Him where He is forever. This was the hope of them that walked with the Lord, and as the same Spirit of Him that was in them now dwells in us, we share this hope. So again, what is your heavenly hope?
1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Revelation 22:12 And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.
